Message from the President
Camilo Atala is President of the Executive Board of Grupo Financiero Ficohsa (GFF), which is made up of nine companies carrying our brand name: Banco Ficohsa Guatemala, Banco Ficohsa Honduras, Banco Ficohsa Nicaragua and Banco Ficohsa Panamá, as well as Ficohsa Seguros, Ficohsa Casa de Bolsa, Ficohsa Tarjetas de Crédito, Ficohsa Pensiones and Ficohsa Casa de Cambio.
A Honduran, Atala began his career as a businessman and entrepreneur in 1990, when he founded Financiera Comercial Hondureña. In July 1994, he spearheaded the company’s transformation into a commercial bank, now called Banco Ficohsa. GFF has grown to become the largest financial group in Honduras, and Ficohsa is one of the most important brands in Central America.
Atala also runs the Fundación Ficohsa para la Educación Infantil (Ficohsa Foundation for Early Childhood Education), a non-profit organization that supports the preschool education of children in rural and marginalized areas. Fundación Ficohsa supports 140 preschool centers in 24 cities in Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Guatemala, benefitting more than 110,000 children.
Atala is highly recognized as a business leader who is committed to promoting sustainable economic and social development in Central America. He also holds other leadership positions. He is the president of the board of the Indura Beach &
Golf Resort, president of the Fundación Identidad Nacional (National Identity Foundation), a member of the advisory board of UNITEC university, a member of the executive board of the INCAE Business School, and president of the executive board
of HonduFuturo. Atala also is the 2016-2017 president of the Concejo Empresarial de América Latina (CEAL – the Latin American Business Council).
Atala has a degree in business administration from Texas Tech University in Lubbok Texas.
